We have always laid great stress on conservation education and capacity building programs to ensure the success of conservation efforts. The formation of Eco Clubs at schools, exchange visits, non-formal education, girls' students stipends are a few ways that conservation education is taken to the people.
WWF Nepal has relentlessly put its efforts and resources in conservation education and capacity building programs to encourage people's participation in conservation of biological diversity and sustainable management of resources. A sustainable achievement of goal; ' to conserve Nepal 's biological diversity in a way that is ecologically viable, economically beneficial and socially equitable ' is only possible when people have right information and capacities to make a right choice that support conservation and sustainable development. Hence, conservation education is an inevitable component for the success of conservation endeavors.
The process of education starts from early childhood and what they learn today will form the foundation for the ideas and values that they follow tomorrow. Therefore, to teach the children about the environment and equip them with skills they need to be responsible citizens and to live in harmony with nature, WWF Nepal in coordination with other NGOs initiated the formation of school based environmental clubs - Eco Clubs since 1994.
